Challenge

Poised to leverage its web-based fleet management solution, the Chairman and CEO of this $20M public technology company announced his intentions to retire. With high hopes for a continued turnaround of this market leading company, the lead investor selected TillmanCarlson to recruit a proven CEO to scale the company.

Solution

Recognizing the importance to move quickly and to fully engage the Board, senior management, and the investor group, TillmanCarlson recommended an approach to identify, assess and interview the entire slate of internal and external candidates within 45 days. Such an approach required speed, objectivity and thoroughness, and we clearly aligned interests by requesting a portion of our fee in stock options.

Result

TillmanCarlson successfully recruited a new Chairman and CEO who had previously served as the CEO of Lawson Software leading this $400M ERP software company through a high profile and successful IPO. Importantly, XATA's new CEO has been well received and the company posted 60% top line revenue growth in 2006.
